Weeks Pass.
Ok so since my last (and also my first) post a lot has happened.
I have taken on a writing position - unpaid - but it should be great for my portfolio at least. I can pick and choose the stories, and I have quite a bit more freedom than I did during school - no surprise there though.
I am now officially a fashion writer with Fashionsign magazine. Woo!!! Yay for unpaid work!! I am interviewing for my first 2 articles this weekend: a physical trainer is going to tell me the best exercises for weight loss as well as give me the best nutrition info. I am also interviewing a designer on her line, Brokendoll clothing. I am pretty excited for these articles which will be published in the June issue! WOOT!
Last week was also the event I hosted for MMA - Meet Market Adventures, a company geared towards singles who want to get out and meet new people while trying new activities. I was pretty fun and I am pretty stoked for my sea kayaking event coming up in a couple weeks!
I did have to make the difficult decision last week to reschedule my surgery.I started to feel that the timing wasn't right for it and so I moved it until September. This way I can keep working, which will help me save for Mexico, and I can also attempt to get my ass in better shape. Apparently consistency is key so I need to focus on getting exercise more regularly. Haha.
This decision obviously didn't come easily and as I has just heard I didn't get a job I really wanted the same week, I was pretty bummed out for a couple days. But, true form and b/c of great friends, I was able to bounce back and am now looking excitedly towards the next couple months!!
On that note, Rabab's wedding is only 2 months away!!! EEE!! I will hopefully be ordering my dress this weekend, and making the bachelorette hairpieces in the next couple weeks! I am so excited for this wedding, and I am also touched that she asked me to be apart of it. She has been such an important person in my life, and was one of my closest friends in Mexico. I am so happy we stayed friends the last 4 years. I can not imagine not having her in my life. It is going to be a beautiful wedding followed by a spectacular party - I say this knowing how us DF friends all party together :-D
What else has happened? Hmm...
OH!! MY best friend in the whole freaking world is FINALLY moving home this weekend!! SO. FLIPPING. EXCITED!! She has spent the last year and a bit working as a naturopathic doctor in Nicaragua and I couldn't be more proud of her! But...I am stupid excited to see her again. I has been so long since her and I have been in the same city for longer than 2 months! Haha!! I guess we are destined to be apart, but regardless of that we have managed to stay close friends. If anything the distance made our friendship even deeper, and it is something I cherish. She is basically my sister and we introduce each other as such! It's a great feeling!
Well, I suppose I have droned on enough...oh I didn't mention Starbucks...what can I say? People are still annoying... :-D

Sundays.
I love my Sundays. Everything about them is relaxing and productive, whether I get household chores done, or I just laze around and do nothing. That is the purpose of Sundays: the day you catch up on whatever you need to catch up on that week.
For me, today was all about reorganizing. I did my laundry, tackled some dishes and also updated my day timer. Yes, an actual day timer with paper and multiple pen colors. I am still old school like that.
I took today to organize my week. I had high aspirations to do some Spanish review as I have a trip to Mexico coming up in a couple months and I want to get a good refresher in before I go. I know I will remember a lot of it once I am there, but since I am going with 2 girls that don't really know the language, I figure I should do what I can to help them when I need too.
Sadly though, Sunday got the best of me, and I have yet to get any review in. Sigh. Oh well. That is the purpose of this day. To do what you need and want to do. And sometimes you don't realize that what you want to do isn't necessarily what you need to do.
I will have to make sure I get some studying in for my interview tomorrow: I am interviewing for a CSA (Customer Service Agent) with WestJet, and even though I have been through many behavioral interviews, this job is a big deal and one I REALLY want, so I looked up some information on how to answer questions effectively. Can't hurt right?
Another reason I enjoy Sundays is b/c there are usually some awesome movies on, and today is no exception. What a great day to just chill out, watch a movie you have seen a million times and still enjoy, and just relax.
We rarely relax these days. I don't anyways. And I find that we are always connected to the outside world in some way. I mean right now I am on my laptop - so I have Facebook, MSN, and my email available right now - and my phone is next to me. I can be reached 4 different ways and I kinda think this is sad. I mean what purpose is there on a Sunday to be that available?? We should just let ourselves be quiet and still. Again, I am a hypocrite to my own rant.
Regardless, I know I can and do ignore my phone, email and computer when I want to. And sometimes you just need to turn the world off and be quiet. And hopefully, when I need to have the solitude, I will want it as well.
Welcome to my future Sundays. I am going to strive to accomplish this solitude more often in the future.
Wish me luck!!
